The year is coming to an end, which means it’s time for Dulux’s colour forecast for next year. With 2020 being taken over by a global pandemic the chosen colours are understandable. The paint manufacturer has explained that the forecast for 2021 reflects the desire for balance and continuity throughout our homes and spaces, which is expected following the social changes and lifestyle adjustments we have all had to face.
In their forecast, Dulux revealed 3 colour palettes that aim to evoke a sense of familiarity and a feeling of comfort:
Drawing on nostalgic comfort and security, their Retreat palette offers a homely aesthetic. Full of neutral greys, warm whites and shades of deep blue, this palette is balanced and provides just the amount of simplicity whilst still making your home colourful and interesting. With many people now working from home and their living and working spaces merging into one, Retreat gives opportunities to turn your home into a place of comfort that can double as a welcoming home office.
The Reset palette consists of refreshing colours that aim to be uplifting and offer a sense of renewal. This uses subtle retro tones to add a touch of playfulness to your home. These paler hues of strong colours aim to brighten our outlooks, with off whites that allow some of the brighter colours to pop, and some warmer tones to add some familiar comfort.
Spending a lot of time this year at home and reliant on technology, we have had to live in a digitally saturated space. Inspired by nature, the Nourish palette encourages us to switch off, relax and enjoy the colours of nature that we can find outside, a space that we have come to appreciate a lot more than we might have before.
We are love with these colours and would be interested to hear what you think. You can let us know on our Facebook page.
